What do you do as an EMEA Senior E-Commerce Manager?
I have the pleasure of leading one of Insight’s greatest teams. We onboard and manage all clients who interact with Insight.com or have a connection between their own system and Insight’s. This includes manging catalogue, E-order and E-Invoice projects for clients, creating custom catalogues, approval workflows and much more!
What is the best part of your job?
So many things! Working with a wide variety of teammates and clients across multiple countries and cultures has to be up there though. The opportunity to interact with a wonderfully diverse group of individuals is always fun!
What does Insight allow you to do that wasn’t in your job description?
Insight gives me the trust and freedom to raise ideas beyond those specific to my team. If I spot an improvement opportunity, whether it’s in E-Commerce, Finance, Services or anywhere else, I feel we have the support to bring it to the right people and they’ll be truly grateful for the input.
As a manager, why do you love managing your team and projects?
As a manager, my key goal is the growth and happiness of my teammates. There’s no greater feeling than seeing a teammate achieve a long term goal that they’ve been working towards with skills that they acquired along the way. Seeing teammates get recognition for this with rewards, promotions or by moving into new roles is a great sign of a management job well done.
I’m very fortunate that my manager, Alex, gives me the freedom and trust to run the business as I see fit. He’s always willing to lend an expert ear and offer a steering hand where required.
How has the organisation changed in your tenure?
Hugely! I’ve been at Insight for 9 years. When I began in Sales we were a traditional reseller with a focus on quantity over quality. We had a habit of putting pressure on teammates to achieve in the wrong areas. The set of values (Hunger, Heart and harmony) that we’ve now adopted has resulted in a really positive culture change. We focus much more closely on the value we can bring to our clients and the happiness and wellbeing of our teammates. Offering things like flexible working and wellbeing classes goes a long way to instilling that culture of trust. Our senior leadership really walks the walk by individually and collectively committing to and acting on the values.
What does success in your job at Insight look like to you?
Success in my job is a happy and healthy team of subject matter experts that continually provide exceptional service and value to our clients.
What is it like working for an organisation that has a large number of women in the Senior Leadership Team?
Having a large contingent of women on the SLT has been vital in driving the values that we now keep at our core. It also offers us a great amount of diversity of ideas and views, which is vital when it comes to developing new offerings, both internal and external.
What are the top reasons someone should join Insight?
It sounds cheesy, but Insight (and particularly the E-Commerce team) are a wonderful family who really look out for each other. Everyone goes out of their way to help and there’s a great culture of celebrating success together. It’s a high performance culture, but not one driven by fear of failure. The ‘fail up’ mentality is certainly in place and ideas that don’t work are simply treated as learning experiences to help us succeed next time. All of this makes Insight a great place to work!
Do you have a favourite quote or moto you live by?
Not so much a quote, but I try to keep three words at heart of everything I do. Kindness, empathy and trust. If there are ever any doubts about whether or not something is the right thing to do, those three words help me check my purpose.
