1. How does it feel to be nominated 2 years in a row?
It is just as big a surprise this time around… Last it was much more of a surprise, perhaps because it was the inaugural year for the awards and there was no previous knowledge about it. However, it remains an incredible honour to be considered and recognised as a female leader in the IT industry.
2. What is your favourite tech gadget?
My Apples – phone, pad, pods and watch.
3. If you were not working in the tech industry, what would you like to do?
Probably something around coaching and development.
4. What advice would you give someone looking to work in the tech industry?
Find something you love to do, work hard to excel at it and commit yourself to it with passion. Push yourself forward even when you fail…and never, never, let anyone else decide what you are capable of achieving.
5. How do you think technology has impacted your personal life over the last 5 years?
There has been so many – but they all form the ‘App-ification’ of things – banking, shopping, ordering food, finding love, communicating, etc
6. Which one piece of tech do you wish you had invented?
The iPhone
7. What inspired you to pursue a career in tech?
The IT industry has always been the most exciting one out there, in my opinion. Technology is integral to every aspect of our daily lives; from smart devices that re-stock our fridge and turn on the lights, to the cars we drive (or ones that drive themselves), to changing the impact of open heart surgery. The application of technology is advancing and changing the landscape of our lives on a daily basis. There is no better or more exciting time to join the technical revolution.
8. What’s the one thing you would take if you were stranded on a desert island?
My wife – she’s way smarter than me and will probably find a way off it..
Look out for the next instalment in this series on Insight’s nominees for the Women in Channel Awards
